What We Believe

Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and spread the gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of, and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it.

We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we carry out the spirit of this Covenant and the principles of God’s word.

King James Version (KJV) Bible is the only Bible to be used by ministers and teachers during the services at Community Bible Church.

Church Constitution

Preamble

The Word of God declares, “Let all things be done decently and in order.” To this end we set forth the following Constitution by which we agree to be governed.

Article I • Name

The name of this church shall be “The Community Bible Church”.

Article II • Purpose

The purpose of this church is for the maintenance of worship, edification of believers, and the conversion of lost humanity to Christ.

Article III • Declaration of Faith

Section 1 We believe the church is the called-out assembly of God composed of true believers in Christ, where the gospel is faithfully preached by God-called men, and the ordinances duly administered. The ordinances consist of baptism of believers by immersion, the observance of the Lord’s supper in an open service with all true believers invited to partake, and the washing of the saints feet in an open service with all true believers invited to participate.

Section 2 We believe the Bible is the Word of God. Both Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and the final authority in faith and conduct.

Section 3 We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, in a threefold relationship of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each co-equal and co-eternal with the other. God created and sustains all things, including man.

Section 4 We believe Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is God incarnate, both perfect man, and perfect God.

Section 5 We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred physical death, as well as spiritual death, which is separation from God; that Adam’s sin is imparted to all mankind, and all are born with a sinful and depraved nature, and all who reach the state of moral responsibility become sinners before God in thought, word, and deed.

Section 6 We believe that Jesus Christ died a substitutionary and sacrificial death for all, and all who believe in Him as their personal Savior are freely justified of all things and stand before God accepted in His character and merit.

Section 7 We believe that Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and continues His high priestly work as advocate in the family of God. He is Lord of the individual believer, and only head of the church, which is His body.

Section 8 We believe in the personal, bodily, second coming of Christ; to gather all of His church unto Himself and establish His kingdom; where He will rule over all the redeemed, bringing peace and blessing.

Section 9 We believe that all who, by faith, receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the Holy Spirit, and a new nature, and are baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ.

Section 10 We believe that sanctification is the continual work of God’s grace, through the Word and the Spirit, by which born again believers are separated in thought, word, and deed, from sin unto the Lord.

Section 11 We believe that God is the spiritual Father only of born-again believers in His Son.

Section 12 We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust; the just (saved) to everlasting life, and the unjust (unsaved) to everlasting punishment.

Section 13 We believe that God has ordained marriage as a covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and God; Community Bible Church will only recognize marriages between a biological man and biological woman.
